From Grains to Growlers, From Malt to Mugs, From Crops to Cups
The concept of doing a start up craft malting operation, was born out of the recent craft beer movement.
Being from one of the best malt growing areas in Alberta, New Norway, we source our grains from the local farmers. We then malt it to the standards that is acceptable to the craft brewers. Being a small business we are able to malt to your specific specifications and needs.
3-D Malt was formed by 4 beer loving guys:
I’m the “Malt Master“.
I am lucky enough to be a 3rd generation farmer from the New Norway area. Homestead of 100 years!
After 24 year’s of working at Spartan controls as a control specialist, I retired to pursue a passion in creating “great malt”! 3D Malt is located on my farm which allows me to be hands on all the time. The door is always open for friends to stop by for a cold beer… relatives by appointment only!
I’m the “Numbers Guy“.
I am extremely proud to be carrying on the tradition as a 4th generation farmer in the New Norway/Ferintosh area.
When I’m not counting beans, you can find me on my tractor. Away from the office and off my tractor , you’ll often find me hosting a get together with friends and family. Of course there is often cold beer involved. They might think that my dance moves and taste in music is questionable, but they’re just jealous of my awesome moves and amazing song choices!
I’m the “Production Assistant/Operations Guy“.
I am also lucky enough to be a 3rd generation farmer in the New Norway area.
When I’m not on the tractor you will find me at my shop manufacturing and designing parts and equipment for the agriculture and oil and gas sector. I will be “fixing what they break”!
Beer is my passion, and I am excited to be a part of this malt making team!
I’m the “Sales Guy“.
I have recently retired after 40 years in the agriculture sector, specializing in management and sales. I am an avid beer lover and am excited for this new business venture in the craft brewing industry. You will be seeing me in your breweries tasting your fine craft beers. “I like to taste test”!
